Our Policies


 

Appointments

Please call our office at 281-298-1144 during normal business hours from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to make an appointment. You can also request an appointment online by completing the information in the Contact Us page. Every effort will be made by the schedulers to accommodate your choices of appointment times.

We require that you bring all results for any labs, and diagnostic tests from your referring providers to expedite the consultation and minimize your out-of-pocket expenses to avoid ordering further testing.

We require a 24 hour notice in the event you need to cancel your appointment. A fee of $50 will be required to reschedule if you do not keep your appointment or fail to cancel before 24 hours of your appointment. Arrival greater than 15 minutes after appointment time will result in a $25 late fee and the option to reschedule or be seen in the next available time slot if one is available. If no time slot available you will need to reschedule.

If you have a medical emergency after hours, please dial 911 and visit the nearest hospital. If it is a medical question or concern that can wait until the morning, please call and leave a message and our office will return your call as soon as possible.

Financial Policy

The Houston Institute of Neurology for Kids accepts all major medical plans as well as Medicaid. Please contact our office to make sure we are on your plan before you make your appointment.

Insurance Coverage

As a service to our patients we will bill the insurance carrier(s) for you. However, the patient is ultimately responsible for paying any and all medical expenses incurred.

While we will help in any way possible, your insurance is a contract between you and your insurance provider. Please contact your insurance provider to verify your benefit level before each visit.

Insurance Referrals/Authorization

The Houston Institute of Neurology for Kids attempts to obtain appropriate insurance referrals prior to the office visit or procedure. However, it is the patient’s responsibility to verify that these referrals/authorizations are in place before services/tests are performed. All patients should be aware that if services or tests are performed without proper authorization, they may be financially responsible for the entire bill.

Insurance / Co-payments

All co-payments are due at the time of service.

No Insurance Coverage

Patients with no insurance qualify for our cash pay discount.

Credit/Debit Cards

The Houston Institute of Neurology for Kids accepts AMEX, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and CareCredit in the office and over the phone.

Prescription Refills

Please plan ahead.  Access your patient portal to request medication refills. 

Requests for prescription refills are processed during office hours only. Our doctors will not routinely write prescriptions or issue refill prescriptions during evenings or weekends.

Referrals

Our providers will assess the full range of pediatric neurological problems. He is dedicated to the highest quality of care for all patients. We take pride in our accessibility to both referring providers and patients. We try to do so as quickly as possible, and provide results immediately to the patients and their referring providers.

Physician offices can print a referral request to submit so we can contact the patients and schedule their appointments as well as ensure coverage and preauthorizations for the procedures.
